Content October is Domestic Violence (DV) awareness month; during this month we would like to highlight our domestic violence program, CPLC De Colores. De Colores provides a safe, secure place for families to heal from abuse. It is the only fully-bilingual, bicultural DV program in the Valley providing tailored services to Spanish-speaking and immigrant populations. People of color and immigrant survivors of domestic violence often face a system that was not designed with them in mind and is therefore difficult to navigate. In addition, for members of these communities, the difficult task of reaching out for help can be magnified by fears of community backlash or deportation. That is why the services that De Colores provides are critical for many survivors fleeing domestic violence. Throughout the pandemic, the need for domestic violence services has increased and shelters are struggling to keep up. But now, you can make your move to end domestic violence. This October, join the movement as CPLC De Colores Domestic Violence Programs unites to walk 1,000 miles in recognition of the 1,000 survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault that we serve every year. Together, we will get active, spread awareness, and raise money to protect and empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in our community. Make Your Move is a 31-day fitness challenge that can be completed by anyone, anywhere, anytime during the month of October. You can walk, run, hike, or take part in any number of fitness activities such as weight training or yoga that all contribute towards our community goal of 1,000 miles (1 hour of activity = 5 miles). Then, share your progress with your friends and help raise money for this important cause! Click here to sign up today and join the fight to end domestic violence.
