Content This blog is part of our “We Are CPLC” series of letters from CPLC staff. We hope you are inspired by these stories of our community by our familia. When you donate to CPLC, you directly support their work. I knew it would be a treat to see the joy in the children’s eyes as we handed them gifts and holiday stockings. But what struck me the most was the joy in their parents’ eyes—and the relief that this year they would get to celebrate the holidays after all. If you missed CPLC’s Ángeles del Barrio holiday celebration this year, you missed an outpouring of cheer, of connection, of cultura. Our volunteers handed out more than 6,000 toys to children in our communities in Phoenix, Tucson, and Yuma, AZ. I’m grateful to our volunteers and staff, who got up early to set up the event for our families and stayed well into the afternoon to clean up. I’m grateful to our sponsors who made the celebration possible: Food City, Waymo, Dentons Global Advisors, Tiffany & Bosco, CapitalOne, and DLA Piper. And I’m grateful for another reminder of the importance of giving. Especially this time of year. Even if you missed our celebration, there are so many opportunities to give—and so many needs in our community. Your gift has the power to: Provide a secure refuge for a woman fleeing domestic violence, where she can heal in a supportive environment. Build life-changing foundations in the health and education of children enrolled in our Head Start programs. Offer low-to-no cost immigration help for a father seeking better opportunities for his family. Give a family facing eviction a safe place to lay down their heads while they search for a new home. Level the playing field for minority-owned small businesses, creating economic opportunities in underserved neighborhoods. Increase access to voting and political representation, protecting the health of our democracy. And so much more. As you put the finishing touches on your holiday shopping list, I hope you will consider including a gift to your comunidad through one of our critical programs at CPLC. Click here to make your gift online. It could truly mean an impact that lasts a lifetime. Wishing you a warm, healthy, and joy-filled holiday season, Alicia Nuñez Interim President & CEO
