Anahí Montelongo has had an incredible journey to reach where she is today. Daughter of immigrant parents, her mother was diagnosed with cancer when Anahí was only 13. She cared for her mother and brother while achieving the highest marks in her class. Reflecting on her personal experience makes her alert to the challenges that students may face outside the classroom. Through the pandemic, Ms. Motelongo applied her skills in Crisis & Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for a holistic approach to her classroom. At a time when academic performance dropped through the pandemic, Ms. Montelongo created a positive learning environment during a difficult time.
