Second Grade Bilingual Teacher, Robison Elementary School
Over the past 42 years, Mrs. Gallego has transformed Robison Elementary School. She spearheaded the school’s bilingual education, worked to bridge the divide between the different cultures in the community, and encouraged students to be proud of where they come from.
Mrs. Gallego is so beloved among her community that her school district voted to rename her school’s library the Margaret H. Gallego Library. Former students have such fond memories that even if they no longer live in the area, they still send their children to be in her class.
At least three generations of families have gone through her classroom or experienced the Fiesta de las Flores, where she helps students foster pride in their Latino heritage.
